MTV Video Music Awards 2014 Nominees Announced: Beyonce Leads Nominations List

Eight-time nominee Beyonce leads the field in this year's MTV Video Music Awards followed by Eminem and Iggy Azalea.

The list of nominees was released on Thursday and other singers who were nominated in more than one category were Jay Z, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Sam Smith, Zedd, Avicii, Pitbull, Jason Derulo and Hayley Williams.

For the Video of the Year, Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," Sia's "Chandelier" and Pharrell Williams' "Happy" will be battling it with Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and Beyonce's "Drunk in Love."

Battling it out for Best Hip-Hop Video are Childish Gambino's "3005"³; Drake featuring Majid Jordan's "Hold On (We're Going Home)"; Eminem's "Berzerk"; Kanye West's "Black Skinhead"; and Wiz Khalifa's "We Dem Boyz."

Best Male Video nominees are Ed Sheeran and Pharrell Williams for their song, "Sing"; Eminem and Rihanna for their song, "The Monster"; John Legend for "All of Me"; and Sam Smith for "Stay with Me."

Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea's "Problem," Beyoncé's "Partition," Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX's "Fancy," Katy Perry featuring Juicy 's "Dark Horse," and Lorde's "Royals" are fighting for the Best Female Video award.

The nominees for Best Pop Video are Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea's "Problem"; Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc's "Wake Me Up"; Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX's "Fancy"; Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz's "Talk Dirty"; and Pharrell Williams' "Happy."

Best Rock Video award will go to either Arctic Monkeys' "Do I Wanna Know?" or Black Keys' "Fever." Other nominees include Imagine Dragons' "Demons," Linkin Park's "Until It's Gone" and Lorde's "Royals."

The Artist to Watch category is fought over by 5 Seconds of Summer's "She Looks So Perfect"; Charli XCX's "Boom Clap"; Fifth Harmony's "Miss Movin' On"; Sam Smith's "Stay With Me"; and Schoolboy Q's "Man of the Year."

Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea's "Problem"; Beyoncé ft. Jay Z's "Drunk In Love"; Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne and Tyga's "Loyal"; Eminem ft. Rihanna's "The Monster"; Katy Perry ft. Juicy J's "Dark Horse"; and Pitbull ft. Kesha's "Timber" are competing for the category of Best Collaboration.

For the category of Best Video with a Social Message, the nominees are Angel Haze ft. Sia's "Battle Cry"; Avicii ft. Dan Tyminski's "Hey Brother"; Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts"; David Guetta's "One Voice"; J. Cole's "Crooked Smile"; and Kelly Rowland's "Dirty Laundry."

The contenders for Best Cinematography Award are 30 Seconds to Mars's "City of Angels"; Arcade Fire's "Afterlife"; Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts"; Gesaffelstein's "Hate or Glory"; and Lana Del Rey's "West Coast."

Beyoncé's "Partition"; Jason Derulo ft. 2 Chainz's "Talk Dirty"; Kiesza's "Hideaway"; Michael Jackson ft. Justin Timberlake's "Love Never Felt So Good"; Sia's "Chandelier"; and Usher's "Good Kisser" are battling over for Best Choreography.

The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards will be aired on Sunday Aug 24 at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
