Moto X2 Release Date Rumors Point to Moto Maker 2014 Launch [VIDEO]

The Moto X2 smartphone has a release date expected for later this summer, and the official launch date will be announced at the Moto Maker event on May 13. Lenovo, who previously bought Motorola Mobile for $2.91 billion, has promoted that the Moto X2 is "made to last, priced for all."

Motorola has not revealed any specific features of the Moto X2, but tech website T3 predicts that it is unlikely to just be a mid-range phone. Also called Moto X+1, the X2 will adapt many of the best features of current smartphone technology, including fingerprint scanners, dual cameras, and a possible 64-bit processor.

Specifications of the next Moto X are not expected to be up there with the likes of the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S series of smartphones, but will most likely emulate the mid-to-high standard and affordable pricing of the Google Nexus line.

Experts have claimed that the phone will feature a 5.2-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution running on a Snapdragon 800 processor, as well as 2GB RAM. It also will likely boast a 12 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front facing camera, as well as 32GB of internal storage.

In a Q&A session at the Mobile World Congress, Motorola said that it will be sticking to the Android OS as implementing other systems would result in some serious compromises. This means that the Moto X2 maker does not have any plans of contracting Firefox OS or the Windows Phone.

In terms of price, Motorola is most likely to try and market itself to those who are more price conscious but still want a solid device with various good features.
