Carl Lentz Rallies Thousands in NYC at Misfits Conference, Says ‘Jesus Plus Nothing is Still Better' Than Having Everything Without Him (VIDEO)

The Salvation Army Theater in the West Village roared with praise as Pastor Carl Lentz addressed over a thousand young adults and teens at the 2014 Misfit Conference in New York City. Lentz took the opportunity to preach the message, "Always, Only, Jesus."

BreatheCast attended the 2014 Misfit Conference in New York City over the weekend and Lentz brought the message of Christ as he closed out the conference. Christ Tabernacle Pastor, Chris Durso and his wife Yahris, led Misfit NYC and the weekend long event, the theme for this year's conference was "The world is listening."

Lentz started by honoring Pastor Chris and his family for their work, "I can't tell you how much I love him," Lentz said. The unorthodox Hillsong NY Pastor expressed how excited he was to be speaking to so many future leaders in New York, "It's an honor of a life time to be preaching here tonight," he stated.

The pastor's wife, Laura, and his young daughters were in attendance; the pastor explained as he pointed to the audience, "I wanted my daughters to come because I wanted them to see their future."

Lentz, humbled to minister before the 1,400 plus in attendance, reassured everyone to tap in and desire "Always, Only, Jesus," which was the name of his message.

"Churches aren't perfect, if they were, we wouldn't fit in it," Lentz heartened. Although he leads a booming ministry in the heart of New York City he said, "Our church is wildly over rated" adding that sadly "the grace of God is under rated."

Lentz preached from scriptures found in John 14:1-7 and Matthew 11:28-30.

He said the number one Google question is still "why am I here?" to which he answered, "Always, Only, Jesus," as the reason.

"Jesus plus nothing is still better," he added.

Lentz shared about his personal journey and told every one, "You need to find your rhythm," declaring to every one, "You have the right to find your own rhythm with God."

For any one not sure of how to go about finding their rhythm Lentz said, "The only way to get the only thing that matters is through personal devotion."

"Your current situation is not as bad as you think it is," he guaranteed, "Jesus wants to walk with you."

"Distance creates distortion so you bridge the gap through communication," he advised.

Lentz made it clear that attending a conference or hanging around religious people is not what makes people feel close to Jesus.

"You desperately need to hear from heaven to affect the Earth," Lentz stated, "Your girl can't hold you down, money can't hold you down, but the word of God will never let you down."

Lentz said during a dark time in his life "prayer" was his rhythm and it still is. The pastor encouraged New Yorkers to pray and because of how bizarre people in New York can be, he said, "You can speak in tongues your entire time to work and no one will even bat an eye."

Lentz covered many different themes in Christianity as everyone in the theater listened attentively, "The biggest indicator of how Jesus has a say in your life is how you love people," he said, "Love is the indicator."

He finished off his message telling the masses to take the scripture 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and personalize it replacing the word love with the individuals name. "The Bible is convicting if you read it like a mirror," the father of three said, "Only Jesus gives you your worth."

Pastor Lentz mentioned the disciple John and how he was so confident in Jesus and his relationship with Him that he rested on his shoulder and called himself the one that God loves.

"Jesus is the only one that can name you, He made you," the pastor said, "If you don't believe it nobody else will."

In closing he encouraged everyone to rally together and make a difference in New York City, "Seasons change, but the savior does not... A lot of Christians let a bad season turn you into a bad witness," he proclaimed.

"If your head is down, you'll forget who is up," adding, "While you're trying to put your self together, N.Y. is still falling apart."

Lentz said it is his heart to reach the hurting people because on his worse day it can be God's opportunity to reach some one else.

Lentz asked the worship team, led by Henry Seeley and the Misfit NYC worship team; to lead out with Hillsong's Young & Free song, "Oceans," as everyone at the Misfits Conference raised their hands.
