Minecraft Xbox One Release Date TBC; Game Developer 4J 'Working On' Launch

Gamers will have to wait a little more until 4J, the Scottish video game developer, announces the official release date of Minecraft.

A representative from the studio reported recently that the game is still being worked on as it expands heavily across the consoles.

4J's goal is to make Minecraft available across the different consoles, but at the moment it is still confined to the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 .

"The main thing we're working on is Minecraft Editions for Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita, and Patch 1.06 for PS3 :)," one Twitter post said.

Fans are expecting the new versions of the game to have improved textures and other features such as the wider abilities for characters to explore and fight during the game.

Microsoft Executive Phil Spencer clarified that 4J will be the ones to schedule a release date and that fans will have to wait on the video game developer for more news on the launch. He also cited differences from the previous Xbox 360 to the latest Xbox One and its compatibility with Minecraft.

"But unlike on 360 where they (4J) had never been on console before and the developer relationship, I'll say, was very tight from the beginning, this is something that's really in their hands now. They're a full-fledged developer in every sense."

4J was recently a recipient of the Golden Joystick Award for Best Downloadable Game as well as a TIGA Games Industry Award for the Xbox Live version of Minecraft.
