Minecraft PS4, Xbox One Update: August 2014 Release Date, Priced at $19.99

A recent announcement has confirmed that Minecraft is set to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One within a month. Rumor has it that the PS4 and Xbox version will be release sometime this August.

Developer 4J Studios recently tweeted, "We can see the light at the end of the tunnel! #MinecraftXbox1 #MinecraftPS4 #MinecraftPSVita."

While the screenshots of the new version were accessible via Play XBLA, the game on the next-gen consoles does not seem much different than the existing PS3/Xbox 360 copies. However, reports start that the game world is 36 times larger.

Meanwhile Gamespot reported that as of this week, Minecraft (released four years ago), has sold 16 million copies for the PC and Mac. In February, the game's sales were at 14 million, and overall, Minecraft has sold 54 million across all platforms.

According to Mojang, Minecraft for Xbox One will incorporate all the features from the latest Xbox 360 title update and it will cost $19.99. Gamers who purchased Minecraft: Xbox 360 from Xbox Live Marketplace or have played the game online with the disc version will only spend $4.99 to upgrade to the Xbox One edition of the game. They will be able to upgrade for a minimum period of one year following its release date.

As for the PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft, Mojang said that it will bring considerably larger worlds as well as a greater draw distance compared to the PS3 and Vita editions. The upcoming game will also incorporate all the features from the lasted PS3 version and cost $19.99. Those who bought PS3 edition from the PlayStation Network can upgrade for $4.99 for a minimum period of one year from the game's release date.
