Microsoft HoloLens News: VR Headgear Games & Release Date with Windows 10

Here is some good news for gaming fans as well as tech aficionados, as Microsoft has just shared some details regarding the company's upcoming VR headgear, the HoloLens, especially pertaining to its release and some potential games.

According to KdramaStars, HoloLens is one of the few VR gaming headgears being developed by the Redmond-based tech giant this year. In addition, Sony is developing Project Morpheus, and Samsung is working on Gear VR and the Oculus Rift. Meanwhile, PC Pro has succeeded in obtaining the specs and features of the Microsoft HoloLens.

The report quotes Alex Kipman, project leader of HoloLens, saying that the visor comprises "see-through" holographic HD lenses that can attain full HD quality at 1080p or at 720p resolution. PC Pro suggests that the HoloLens will boast 4K display that may possibly put the device ahead of its competitors.

PC World reports that the processor of HoloLens is the Cherry Trail chipset, which is reportedly smaller, faster and, at the same time, have more features compared to its Bay Trail predecessor. In addition, the new chipset may also have wireless charging to the HoloLens.

The HoloLens will come with the RealSense gesture control, allowing extensive various hands free control mechanics to facilitate interaction with tablets. It will also have Intel's WiDi technology, allowing users stream movies, games, along with apps.

The HoloLens' co-processor is the Holographic Processing Unit, which has the ability to integrate and interact with real environments as well as virtual objects that enables the HoloLens to deduce its surroundings.

According to PC Pro, the gadget will come with the Kinect 2.0 as the Xbox accessory and will include depth and 1080p colour cameras, in addition to an infrared sensor.

The HoloLens will also sport a 3D MineCraft-like game called 'HoloStudio' that allows players knock on holes via real-world objects to divulge digital environments. In addition, this game also enables users to produce, maneuver and modify 3D models, which can be exported to 3D printers.

As far as games are concerned, Microsoft intends to have Xbox One games to the HoloLens. Speaking at the GDC 2015 event last week, Xbox executive Phil Spencer said they are planning on creating games for its VR head gear. According to Spencer, "Gaming and entertainment is going to be critical."

Microsoft is planning to launch the HoloLens "in the same time-frame as Windows 10." The company is expected to share further detailed, especially relating to the gadget's release date, at Microsoft's Build developer conference in April 2015.
