On Tuesday morning, legendary Christian recording artist Michael W. Smith appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" performing his recent single "Surrounded (Fight My Battles)," backed by the Times Square Church Choir. After an introduction by show host Michael Strahan, Smith led the song live during the broadcast and taped the lead single "A Million Lights" from his acclaimed albums released last month, Surrounded and A Million Lights respectively.
The encouraging live performance of Surrounded (Fight My Battles) can be viewed online on ABC here, or via Smith's Facebook page. In one shot, you can see "Good Morning America" show host, and former New York Giants defensive end, Michael Strahan mouthing the words to the tune as he sings along to Smith and the choir.
The appearance on "Good Morning America" was sparked by the success of Smith's two new albums that have become his 30th and 31st Top 10 hits on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, more than any other solo artist in history.
During his visit to New York City, Smith also appeared in interviews and performances with SiriusXM The Message and in BackStory Presents: Michael W. Smith live from The Cutting Room NYC, live streamed by Parade Magazine. In addition, he also gave interviews with Fox News Radio and with Fox News.
Following his media appearances this week, Smith is heading back out on his "Surrounded By A Million Lights World Tour," presented by Compassion International and featuring special guest Nathan Tasker, which will continue in Minneapolis/St. Paul on Thursday, March 15. The tour features among others a musical tribute to the late Rev. Billy Graham, along with the new music and old favorites from Smith's extensive repertoire.
Smith's two latest albums can be found at most digital retailers, including iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music, LifeWay Christian Stores, Google Play Music, and more here for Surrounded and here for A Million Lights.
