Michael Schumacher Condition Update: Son of Former F1 Champion Wants to Emulate Father’s Racing Career

As the world's seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher remains under intensive care from a severe ski accident last year, his son Mick Schumacher, is faithful that he can follow his father's career path.

Fresh from the World Championships held in Essay, France on Sunday, Mick said that taking home the crown as the World Karting Vice-Champion for FIA's KF-Junior division is just the start of endless possibilities.

"Of course I am proud of such an important result," Michael's 15-year-old son told the press, "But it is also clear that it is my goal to be world champion. This is only the beginning of my career."

This is also the final year that Mick is adopting his mother's maiden name, Betsch, in world racing competitions.

Currently, Michael Schumacher was recently transferred to his residence near Lake Geneva from a private clinic in Lausanne, Switzerland for close monitoring. The 45-year-old F1 legend went comatose for six months after sustaining head injuries from a skiing accident in the French Alps. The famous German racer is now on his "long and difficult road" to recovery, but manager Sabine Kehm assured that progress has seen since the accident.

"We would like extend our gratitude to the entire team at CHUV Lausanne for their thorough and competent work. We ask that the privacy of Michael's family continue to be respected, and that speculations about his state of health are avoided," Kehm added.

In addition, NDTV Sports reported "Schumacher is unable to move any of his body parts except the eyes and remains in a state of minimal consciousness." He is also attended to by a 15-person medical team, whose professional fees and equipment costs around £100,000 per week, according to Daily Record.
