Michael Schumacher Coma Condition Update, Latest: Arsenal Player Honors Formula 1 Champ, Doctors Say Long Road to Recovery

Formula One record holder Michael Schumacher still remains in coma, but fans and friends continue to offer support for his full recovery.

Recently Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski offered his support to the Formula 1 star ahead of his team's FA Cup Final match with Hull City.

Podolski tweeted to the F1 champion saying, "My boots for the final!  And the best wishes to Michael."

He wore the said boots on the day of Arsenal's FA Cup triumph with the message, "Keep Fighting, Michael."

The rest of Arsenal players also paid tribute to Schumacher by wearing printed shirts with their well wishes on it.

Meanwhile, doctors attending to Schumacher's case have reportedly said that recovery is still possible but it could take longer than expected as there are two sides of coma.  If the racing champion shows signs of progress, it may lead him to regain full consciousness, but there are also chances that his health could deteriorate further.

"Either there is deterioration or there is a positive development.  But if there is progress, it is done over months, not days.  A patient does not wake up once.  It is a popular imaging and it is false," CHU Liege chief neurosurgeon Dr. Didier Martin told Sudinfo.be.

Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has said that she and Michael's family have remained positive about his medical condition.  Kehm previously clarified to the media that reports pertaining to the athlete waking up were not confirmed by attending physicians and that the F1 star was still in a coma. However, it was also confirmed that there have been some minor improvements in Michael's condition over recent weeks and months.

Schumacher has been in a medically-induced coma for about four months after his tragic skiing accident in the French Alps last year.  The family has asked fans to continue praying for his progressive recovery.
