MercyMe was again nominated at the Billboard Music Awards 2016 for Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Song for the track, "Flawless."

The nominations come as the group's eight and night Billboard Music Awards nominations so far.

They were previously contenders at the Billboard Music Awards for Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Album back in 2011; Top Christian Artist and Top Christian song in 2012; and the Top Christian Album, Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Song last year.

"MercyMe have sold more than 8.5 million units in CD, single and DVD sales, garnered 27 No. 1 multi-format Christian radio singles and four consecutive mainstream radio hits with 'I Can Only Imagine' (No. 4 AC/Top 25 on Top 40/Hot AC), 'Here With Me' (No. 4 AC), 'Homesick' (Top 10 AC) and 'So Long Self,'" a press release said.

Indeed, MercyMe has really come a long way from just trying to spread the message of God, into earning accolades for their music.

"Twelve years ago all I wanted to do was sing the right songs and get emotionally wound up, but now I realize my job is to make Christ the center of attention each night," MercyMe frontman Bart Millard told Belief.net.

He also said that they have never felt the pressure of compromising their beliefs for the sake of fame and richness.

"The popularity's got its pluses and minuses, and there are many days that I would rather just be a Christian and not known at all, but that's not what God has called me to do," the MercyMe lead singer added.

The Billboard Music Awards 2016 will air on Sunday, May 22, on ABC.
