Mary Mary's Tina Campbell Reveals the Bible Helped Her More Than Counseling After Distress of Lawsuits, Family Death & Infidelity [VIDEO]
One half of MARY MARY, Tina Campbell is now venturing off on a few solo ventures with an upcoming album and book. During an interview for her new book, 'I Need a Day to Pray' she confessed that months of counseling did not compare to the supernatural healing she received from reading the word of God.
"The book was like my personal journal to God," Campbell revealed in a recent interview with Parle Magazine. The popular gospel singer has had a rough couple of years and her upcoming projects are the product of her journey through it all.
"My dad getting cancer and dying, that gave me something to pray about, getting sued illegitimately... that gave me something to pray about, Having to let go of our entire team... That gave me a lot to think about," Campbell stated, "And then I was just trying to keep my sanity in the process of all of that because I have 5 kids that need their mama so that gave me a lot to pray about."
On top of all of the aforementioned trauma, Campbell also found out that her husband Teddy of many years repeatedly cheated on her during their marriage. Campbell found out about her husband's infidelity and decided to reveal it to the world by confessing it to Ebony magazine. The singer chose to stay in her marriage and work things out after finding out, but her recovery was greatly in part because of her documented prayers.
"It was the prayers that change my life; it was believing the prayers and practicing what it said that changed my life. I did counseling... but that doesn't necessarily take away the pain," she told Parle, "13 months of counseling, my counseling wasn't helping as much as reading that Bible was. Every time I would read the Bible it just felt like I was praying, it felt like I was protected from all of this craziness of life."
With her book, Campbell revealed that she now hopes to share with others what she was praying from the Bible in hopes that it will help others the way it did her.
