Mary Mary's Erica Campbell Responds to Those Who Deemed Her Picture too 'Sexy' with 'Everybody isn't Going to like Everything' (INTERVIEW)

Mary Mary singer Erica Campbell has always dismissed what the critics had to say, but now she thinks, "social media has given them a voice."

After all of the media attention Campbell received from a recent promotional photo she posted on her Instagram. Breathecast took a minute to reach out to the singer and ask about it.

"I am surprised ppl are still talking about! Lol," she laughingly said.

All of the controversy surrounds a picture of Campbell that was posted after receiving a recent Grammy nomination for her solo radio hit, "A Little More Jesus."

The picture is of the singer in a dress that's has a turtle neck that reaches below the knees, and has sleeves to her wrist. Religious people took to the web to express their disapproval of the photo.

"This is not ok. Yes, you are a beautiful, curvy woman but no ma'am you are singing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We compel men to come through our love for Jesus, but when we wear things that are distracting, the message is somehow lost and it becomes about us and not about Him," wrote pastor Stacey Woods on the American Preachers site.

When asked if she thought that all the publicity around her picture was a form of bullying she replied, "I don't feel bullied ppl have always said things, social media has given them a voice."

Campbell is popularly known in the gospel community as one half of the Grammy Award-winning Duo Mary Mary with her sister Tina Campbell. They are no strangers to receiving heavy criticism for their fashion trends. They have been photographed numerous times with outfits that can be considered a lot more risque.

Things may just have intensified because social media has now given the critics a platform to openly publicize their judgments.

"Everybody isn't going to like everything," she continued.

Campbell has ventured out from the famous duo to record a solo album. The singer's album, HELP, will be released March 25, 2014. From the brief conversation with BC she is remaining positive. Her confident disposition will really make all the difference.
