Mark Wahlberg Admits Faith in God is What is Most Important In His Life, Goes to Church Every Morning

Mark Wahlberg has done it all in the entertainment industry: rapping, modeling, acting, and producing - and admittingly said his faith in God is what is most important in his life.

"[Faith] is the most important part of my life. I don't try to push it on anybody and I don't try to hide it... If the kids are good, I'll have doughnuts for them at 6:30 in the morning [on Sundays], and I'll say, 'You guys gotta let Mommy sleep in!' I'll go to church at 7:30 and everybody will be eating breakfast when I come home," said Wahlberg in a discussion he recently had with Parade. "Then we'll go to church again at 10:30, if things aren't too hectic. Or if one of the kids has a game we'll watch them play. It's a nice family day."

The former front man of rap group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch revealed his dark past in an interview with The Catholic Herald four years ago.

"There's nothing scarier than being 16 years old, hearing the jail house door close behind you, and knowing that you're not going to leave. I'd brought it on myself. A lot of bad things happened to me when I was young, and I did a lot of bad things too. I was too cool for school, I'd made my mistakes and I was paying for them. I'd lost sight of my religion..."

He repented from a life of crime when a Catholic priest spoke to him in jail for attempted murder.

"It was a matter of saying, 'ok, do I wanna now get in jail, start getting high, doing that whole thing or am I just gonna you know, focus, start going to church, get out of here and never look back,'" said Wahlberg to CNN's Piers Morgan in a interview nearly 2 years ago.

"Being a Catholic is the most important aspect of my life," said the 42 year old high acclaimed actor to Catholic Herald. "The first thing I do when I start my day is, I get down on my hands and knees and give thanks to God. Whenever I go outside of my house, the first thing I do is stop at the church. The kids will be mad with me. 'Daddy! It takes too long!' I'm saying: 'It's only 10 minutes and this is something I really need to do.' Because I do. If I can start my day out by saying my prayers and getting myself focused, then I know I'm doing the right thing. That 10 minutes helps me in every way throughout the day."
