'Dancing with the Stars' dancer Mark Ballas is in a relationship with Britney Jean Carlson, also known as BC Jean, who is best recognized for writing Beyoncé's "If I Were a Boy."

Ballas and Carlson were first seen together in late 2012, after the choreographer's break up with Tiffany Dunn.

Reports say that after Ballas' split from Dunn, he focused on work for a while, and then spent time with Carlson after the 'Dancing with the Stars' season ended that year.

"Mark and BC Jean have been dating and hanging out for about a month or so," a source close to Ballas told In Touch in 2012.

The source added that the couple was still in the early stage of their relationship, but is enjoying spending time together.

"It is very new and they really like each other's company and enjoy spending time together. He thinks she is gorgeous and talented and really sweet," the source added.

About half a year later, the couple allegedly went for a vacation together in Jamaica. Ballas even shared his experience through his Twitter account.

"Had an INCREDIBLE time at Sandals Resorts," read Ballas' tweet.

Ballas has been proud about his girlfriend's talent, and he complimented her by saying Carlson is "an incredible songwriter."

"She wrote 'If I Were A Boy' for Beyoncé. She's had some other great rock hits and what not. And she's just an incredible inspiration to me as a musician and as a singer/songwriter," he told Latina.

He even shared that their romance started from a potential musical collaboration.

"That's how we met; we met on the singer/songwriter circuit. She's very high up there and everyone knows who she is, and she really enjoyed my music at set and that's how we got talking and then we started collaborating. We went on a few dates here and there," shared Ballas.

The 28-year-old choreographer was all praises for his girlfriend, saying that he was a fan of her music, even before they became romantically involved.

"She's, in my opinion, what a true artist represents, being able to make you feel a certain emotion. And that's me being unbiased because I appreciated her talent before her and I started dating. She's co-written 3 or 4 songs on the record. She co-wrote with me and they came out great. Lyrically, she's just wonderful," said Ballas.
