Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Boxing Fight 2014: Dubai Rumored to Stage Dream Fight? [VIDEO]

Rumors have been rife that the dream fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is now in the works, following reports that the Prince of United Arab Emirates will bankroll a showdown between the top boxers in the world.

This stemmed from reports that came out last week saying the UAE President and Royal Family has been working to make the much talked about Pacquaio vs Mayweather dream fight, a reality.

IBTimes UK said that Prince Amir Shafipour was apparently allowed to initiate talks with both the camps of Mayweather and Pacquiao. Shafipour is a businessman and fight promoter in the middle east and he was reported all set to draw up a deal for the much-awaited fight in the ring.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has shed light on the issue, brushing off reports of what could be the biggest and "most lucrative" fight in the boxing history. Speaking to a Philippine top local television channel, the ABS-CBN, Arum denied any deals being cooked up for Pacquaio and Mayweather.

"I don't know who this fellow is and he's never talked to me or anybody in the Pacquiao camp. But over the years, we have met more alleged princes from Dubai than there are princes from Dubai," Arum told ABS-CBN in an interview.

That information turned out to be true, as Arum mentioned the time Pacquiao's business adviser, Michael Koncz posed a Prince.

"But he was as much a prince as you are," he said, "The last guy says he was a prince from Dubai. Turned out he was born from Brooklyn, New York," Arum added, citing the ABS-CBN report.

Arum remains hopeful however, with the latest liege now reportedly working to put Pacquaio and Mayweather in the same ring.

"I don't know who this fellow is and he's never talked to me or anybody in the Pacquiao camp. But over the years, we have met more alleged princes from Dubai than there are princes from Dubai," Arum said, according to a report by ABS-CBN.

"If they're legitimate, why wouldn't we be willing to talk with them and negotiate with them? But I'm very, very skeptical."

While aficionados of both camps have remained in the dark whether or not Pacquaio and Mayweather will finally have their big day in the ring, each has been scheduled for yet another fight before the end of the year.

Following his win over Marcos Maidana, Mayweather had already announced another fight in September 2014. No opponent has been named yet. Pacquaio for his part has agreed to fight Juan Manuel Marquez in Macau in November 2014.
