Mandisa's 'Overcomer' Wins Twice at Grammy Awards; Singer Skips Event and Reveals Reason, 'I Have Been Struggling with Being in the World' (VIDEO)

Christian Grammy Award winner Mandisa was a no show at the event Sunday night and took to her blog to explain why she was missing.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards show aired last night on CBS, and showcased a lot of shocking musical performance collaborations, a rush of new winners, and the music show's first ever marriage ceremony. However, noticeably missing was any recognition or footage of all of the Christian musicians honored.

Season five American Idol alum Mandisa won her first Grammy for her album Overcomer in the category for Best Contemporary Christian Album, and another for the single "Overcomer" in the category for Best Contemporary Christian song.

The singer posted a video of her reaction upon hearing the news of her win. After a flood of messages on her social media pages of fans asking why she skipped out on the elaborate event, the singer decided to take to her blog and transparently share her reasons for not attending.

Listed first on her detailed post was her simple reason of just wanting to be home during her hectic tour schedule. Her second reason was to avoid "people scrutinizing" her appearance, which goes along with her Jan. 15 Facebook post that told her followers about her recent struggles with insecurity.

Her next reason was that she had three previous Grammy nominations, in 2008, 2010, and 2012 for her first three studio albums, True Beauty, Freedom, and What If We Were Real and did not win, so she figured this year would follow suit.

"Finally, the fourth reason I chose not to attend this year: Yes, both times I have gone to the Grammys I have witnessed performances I wish I could erase from my memory, and yes, I fast forwarded through several performances this year," adding, "but my reason is not because of them, it's because of me. I have been struggling with being in the world, not of it lately. I have fallen prey to the alluring pull of flesh, pride, and selfish desires quite a bit recently," she revealed.

Mandisa has had much success in the Christian market the past couple of years. Her journey from Idol to touring the country alongside Christian pioneer Toby Mac and her success, has taken her to various heights and depths. Those accomplishments though are not her primary focus as she goes on to say in her blog that her relationship with God must take precedence.

Her recent struggles do not mean she will never be seen on a mainstream platform again however. She wrapped up her blog by and said, "So yeah, should I ever be nominated again, and I'm feeling up to it, I'll go. I recognize that I may feel a bit like an alien in a strange land, but Jesus, friend of sinners, felt that way and still managed to shine...by His Holy Spirit, so can I!"
