‘Longmire’ Season 5 Start Date, Spoilers: New Season Begins Production Next Week; September Premiere Possible?

It won't be too long until fans of "Longmire" get to see their favorite Netflix series again, as filming for its fifth season officially starts next week. This was confirmed by actor Lou Diamond Phillips himself, who plays the role of Henry Standing Bear in the drama.

In a recent tweet, Phillip confirmed that filming for the brand new episodes will start by the end of March.

Because of the confirmation, many believe that the September 2016 premiere is in the cards, given that the fourth season of the series also premiered sometime in September 2015.

While no detail about the upcoming season has been disclosed yet, some fans already have speculations as to the storyline of season 5.

"Longmire" season 4 ended with a cliffhanger, so it is believed that the next season will pick up exactly where the previous season left off.

The final scenes of season 4 showed Walt taking a chill pill at his house with Dr. Donna Monaghan when suddenly, some intruder forced an entry into his home to make a scene.

Fans believe that the first episode of season 5 will reveal who the intruder is. While Netflix has not given any hint about the identity of the suspect, avid viewers of the series believe that he might be one of the people Walt previously had a spat with as a sheriff.

Topping the list is Walker Browning, whose operation was sabotaged by Walt in season 4. It can be remembered that in season 4, he went missing in his hospital bed and was nowhere to be found.

Other suspects are Jacob Nighthorse, Walt's long-time enemy, and Dr. Monaghan, who, according to fans, could be working for Walker.

"Longmire" was picked up by Netflix after it was cancelled by its original home, A&E. Its sweeping success since then has made its renewal in September possible.
