LG G3 Release Date, Price, Specs: Quad HD Mobile, Fingerprint Scanner, Superior to LG G2

LG has announced the unveiling of its next flagship smartphone - the LG G3 - on May 27, promising greater features than its predecessor.  The LG G3 is the first smartphone to boast a Quad HD display greater than the current market offerings. Critics are expecting that the latest unit will surpass the LG G2 in every way, and be a strong competitor against top rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2.

The LG G2 was highly acclaimed by both critics and users, so there is a lot of buzz surrounding the formal introduction of the LG G3, and a launching event will be held in six global key cities including San Francisco, New York, and London.

"I'm writing to let you know that LG will be hosting an exciting event in London at the end of May to announce our next big global device after G2. With G2 being so well regarded, we have high expectations for its successor, as I'm sure you do as well. So to give our newest device a proper introduction in the presence of as many industry influencers as possible, we will be holding unveiling events in six global cities on May 27 and May 28," an LG official has stated.

Aside from its Quad HD display, which boasts a 1140 by 2560 pixel screen, the LG G3 also comes with the company's proprietary Octa-core processor called Odin. According to PC Advisor UK, the LG G3 will run on four 2.2 GHz Cortex-A15 processors and another set of 1.7 GHz Cortex-A7.

Rumors have claimed that the LG G3's camera is the same as the earlier version but with an enhanced OIS (optical image stabilization) and 4k video recording capability. Speculation suggests that the upcoming LG G3 will also feature a fingerprint scanner to rival with the iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S5.

"Higher revenues are expected in the second quarter with the release of the flagship LG G3 smartphone and wider roll-out of the mass-tier L Series III," Trusted Reviews quoted LG as saying.
