With cases such as Mike Brown, Eric Garner, and now Sandra Band and Samuel DuBose, racial tension amongst authorities and black Americans is on an all time high. In a recent social media video post, rapper Lecrae, who is a Christian voice in the Hip-Hop community, posed a sincere question to his followers concerning it all.

Lecrae has been known to openly speak about social issues. Sometimes even sharing his own experiences on certain topics but if you just simply read through the comment section on some of his posts on racial tension it is evident that people react differently to that specific topic.

"I have historically posted things about abortion planned parenthood and my thoughts on that. I've talked about Isis the terror that is Isis and how it has affected us all," the Reach Records founder explained.

Going on to say that on both of those circumstances he has received encouragement and people saying 'thank you for speaking about this.' He pointed out that those comments came specifically from his white brothers and sisters.

"But yet when I've spoken out recently about what I find to be authoritive or racial injustice. Theirs this sentiment of what seems to be like hostility or defensiveness," he went on to say.

The Texas native said many times people ask him to change the subject and address terrorism or abortion instead. He pointed out that when he does talk about those subjects' people never seem to mind and have never ask him to address racial tension instead.

"I'm interested in understanding what the sentiment here is?" he asked.

He then opened up the floor for his followers to soberly respond with genuine enlightenments. He said he did not want things to be visceral or harsh and although he was pointing out what appears to be a double standard, he lovingly said he desires to understand the differences.

"I personally do not feel that I give more sway to one thing more than the other intentionally. I think that I'm human and as an African American male that's the experience, the paradigm that I see things through so that's probably going to affect me a little more then it's going to affect somebody who's not apart of the black community," He explained, "I definitely understand that. But I am interested in understanding why there's this instinct response."

Lecrae said that he has opened this dialog with his friends and explained that fellow rapper Propaganda gave the example of a patient walking into a doctor's office with a broken arm but the doctor not wanting to focus on the broken bone but every other part of the body instead.

The Grammy award winner maintained that he is not about division rather all about unity. Watch his full video HERE and share with us your response to Lecrae's heartfelt question.
