Latina Star Jaci Velasquez’s New Fashion Line To Benefit Autism Tennessee

Christian pop music artist Jaci Velasquez has launched her very own fashion line, dubbed N+J=Z, with the help of "Project Runway All Star" alum Jonathan Kayne. But her new venture is not all about profits because, aside from showing this side of her to the world, the profits will also go to Autism Tennessee.

Velasquez said, "Designing a fashion brand is like art. Creating a dress that suits a variety of body types and compliments the things we want to be seen and hides the things we don't want to be seen - we did all that on this dress."

For his part, Kayne explained, "The essential Little Black Dress is a staple for every woman's wardrobe. I worked closely with Jaci to create the most comfortable, fashionable and versatile little black dress."

When it comes to her craft, Jaci Velasquez has nothing to prove anymore after selling over five million albums, with three certified platinum and another three certified gold, seven dove awards and 16 no. 1 singles.

But launching the fashion brand, which will drop in stores in the summer of 2016, is something that takes her out of her comfort zone. The aim is to "create beautiful, wearable, affordable everyday fashion," said the press release.

The name of the fashion line, N+J=Z, refers to the initials of her family. N is for gospel singer Nick Gonzales, J is for Jaci and Z is for their son Zealand. The brand was launched in April during the National Autism Awareness Month.

"It was a natural fit to partner with Autism Tennessee." she said. "They are based in Tennessee and support and provide services for families around the state like mine. As a hometown girl, I wanted to give back to families in my community."
