Kirk Cameron Fights Critics of 'Saving Christmas'; Actor Tells Supporters to 'Storm The Gates of Rotten Tomatoes' [VIDEO]

Despite the alleged success of Kirk Cameron's latest holiday film 'Saving Christmas' the actor took to Facebook to ask his supporters to over shadow the negative reviews the film has received by voicing their opinions.

"Help me storm the gates of Rotten Tomatoes!," the actor instructed on Facebook providing a link to the popular movie rating site, "All of you who love Saving Christmas - go rate it at Rotten Tomatoes right now and send the message to all the critics that WE decide what movies we want our families to see!"

Cameron mathematically worked out that even if just some of his followers provided feedback it could potentially outshine the negative comments. "If 2,000 of you (out of almost 2 million on this page) take a minute to rate Saving Christmas, it will give the film a huge boost and more will see it as a result!" he added, "Thank you for all your help and support in putting the joy of Christ back in Christmas!"

According to an earlier post, Cameron's supporters came out in droves and the 'Growing Pains' actor could not be happier with the level of support he received.

"Wow, over 100,000 of you have shared the trailer for Saving Christmas," he wrote on Facebook earlier this week, "That has resulted in over 4 MILLION people watching it!"

'Saving Christmas' hit theaters November 14 and is out for two weeks only, so Cameron wanted to make sure people made it out to see the film.

'Saving Christmas' set out to help Christian skeptics understand why he celebrates Christmas and all of its festivities including Santa Claus. Throughout the years some evangelical Christians have disassociated themselves with celebrating Santa, claiming that it was a diversion from the true meaning of the season, Jesus and his birth. Along with Santa, Christmas day itself and all of its festivities have received a bad rep for its close ties to pagan origins. These accusations have been happening as early as the 1600's when the puritans banned Christmas but Cameron set out to save the day.
