Pop superstar Katy Perry has confirmed that she will be performing at the Super Bowl XLIX (49) halftime show in February 2015 to entertain the fans during football's biggest night of the year.

While the NFL and sponsor Pepsi confirmed this on Sunday, the singer herself tweeted from Australia confirming her participation while watching a football game between the San Francisco Giants and Dallas Cowboys.

For those that may not know, Katy Perry is currently on her Prismatic World Tour down under, on the continent of Australia.

However, according to Entertainment Weekly, Perry told ESPN, "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl," and sure enough, Perry will not have to pay for her February 2015 performance.

According to reports, Perry beat out Rihanna and Coldplay, who were also shortlisted with Perry. On that note, Beyonce's performance last season was viewed by a record 111.5 million people in the United States, making the event most-watched in the history of TV.

Earlier Super Bowl halftime extravaganzas featured Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers these events also drew a record viewership.
