Christian worship artist Kari Jobe released "Look Upon the Lord" as part of her weekly Majestic live video series, and also offered an explanation of the popular track.

Taking the main focus of the song from Psalm 34:5, which states "Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame," Jobe spoke of the power found in Jesus.

She described that presence as "life-giving" and "miraculous" as it transforms and allows us to turn our eyes to the Lord. "No two glimpses are ever the same. But each one changes us," she wrote on Facebook.

Jobe used the example of Peter keeping his eyes on Jesus to walk on water. As long as he was focused he defied the law of physics. Her next example was, Zacchaeus, who "climbed a tree for a glimpse of the Lord in passing" and was rewarded with having Jesus as a dinner guest along with a new life in the kingdom.

She spoke of the hemorrhaging woman who kept her eyes locked on Jesus and was healed instantly by her faith. The list of people affected by God's glory providing the miraculous could go on and on, but Jobe closed out with the well-known story of Mary Magdalene.

"Mary Magdalene went only to see the broken, lifeless body of her beloved Messiah and friend. Instead she became the first to behold the resurrected conqueror of death. In the process, she became the very first of more than a billion humans to believe in her heart 'that Jesus is Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead' (Romans 10:9)."

She became the first to witness the resurrection of the Savior's body.

"When we look upon the Lord, we can't help but be changed. John reminds us that, 'what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is' (1 John 3:2)," she wrote.

The main theme to take away from the song is that Jesus is the "Author and Finisher of our faith." His presence is all around us, and that "life changing" experience will cause a work in us forever.
