Joel Osteen, Allan Houston and Dwyane Wade to Host Fatherhood and Family Event

On Friday, February 15, Pastor Joel Osteen, superstar of the NBA's Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade, and former NBA All-Star and current Assistant General Manager of the New York Knicks, Allan Houston, will be hosting a special panel discussion on fatherhood and family. The event will be held in conjunction with the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston, Texas, at Osteen's Lakewood Church (3700 Southwest Freeway).

Developing strong, capable fathers is a topic that each of the panel guests is equally passionate about. Following a high-profile divorce and custody battle, Wade was named primary caregiver of his two young sons. He wrote the New York Times Bestseller A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball to document the importance of his role in his children's lives.

Likewise, Houston is so committed to supporting other fathers that he founded the Allan Houston Legacy Foundation with a specific aim to "restore a strong family unit, provide economic empowerment through entrepreneurship, encourage education and life skill development and enhance spiritual growth.

Fatherhood & Family Night will also feature retired NBA player and children's advocate Etan Thomas, Carl Lentz, who is pastor of the fast growing New York City church, Hillsong NYC. CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien will serve as moderator.

The event is free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, and will include free giveaways, a book signing, photo opportunities and music by Israel Houghton.
