Christian athletes Jeremy Lin and Tim Tebow recently helped out several people in need, despite their own current hardships playing professional sports.

Both men have been outspoken about their devout faith in Jesus Christ in countless interviews, and the men are also known to help the less fortunate as Jesus did.

Tebow and his charitable Tim Tebow Foundation recently opened the Timmy's Playroom at the Niswonger Children's Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee on March 5, where sick children will have a place where they can forget about their troubles.

"We are so excited to have a Timmy's Playroom at Niswonger Children's Hospital. This is our sixth Timmy's Playroom and our first one in Tennessee. We hope this room serves as a place for kids to take their minds off their medical treatments and it provides each patient, each family with faith, hope and love," said the Tim Tebow Foundation Executive Director and President Erik Dellenback, according to a TriCities report.

In addition to Tebow and his foundation, high school student Liana Head personally raised at least $ 20,000 in order to make the Timmy's Playroom inside Niswonger Children's Hospital a reality.

Head revealed that she empathizes with the children because she too dealt with tons health problems since she was 4-years-old.

"I can testify to the value of a brighter day. I have made it my mission to provide children with a Timmy's Playroom so they don't have to go another day without a moment of joy," said Head.

The former New York Jets and Denver Broncos athlete has not played in the NFL since he was released by the New England Patriots during the 2013 NFL preseason. However, Tebow still has not given up on his dream for returning to the NFL as a starting QB.

Fortunately, Tebow is not the only sports figure that is following Jesus' creed of taking care and showing love and compassion to people that are less fortunate regarding necessities - food, clothing and shelter.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin recently fed and hung out with the homeless people in upstate New York during the NBA All-Star weekend last month.

Lin and his family went to a park where they celebrated the Chinese New Year by giving goods to the homeless folks. There Lin listened to the individuals' heartfelt stories of people who were down-and-out but remain positive despite their problems.

"I just think it's a valuable thing to do, just to sit down and learn some of the stories, find ways in which you can kinda understand who they are. Relate to them, sympathize, empathize with what they've been through, versus always feeling like, alright, I'm going to judge you based on what I see," said Lin in a recent YouTube video.

Recently, Lin revealed that although he is going through a very difficult season with the Lakers, he said he is confident because God is guiding his path.

"God has always taken care of me. I don't need to stress about it. I really am not worried about it... I've been learning how to surrender the results to God, how to walk by faith and not by sight, how to be renewed through times of prayer/Scripture and how to fight for a life of joy in the midst of trials," wrote Lin in a recent blog post.
