Rend Collective had an unforgettable trip to New York City weeks ago when they kicked off Chris Tomlin's 'Worship Night In America' at Madison Square Garden and while in town two of the members stopped by BREATHEcast to discuss their new album As Family We Go highlighting the importance of the great commission and the unity of God's people.

Patrick Thompson, the band's guitar player clarified what the band from Northern Ireland purposes themselves to do with their music.

"I think sometimes we get confused whenever we're singing worship songs/we're writing worship songs that the end goal is the music you create, but that's not the end goal. The end goal is the mission and so the idea behind As Family We Go is that we're writing songs to accompany that mission. To be the soundtrack to the mission which is to go. Like the great commission has instructed us to do," he passionately explained.

Bandleader Gareth Gilkeson further described the meaning behind As Family We Go.

"We're called the family of God for a reason. It's the unity, that's the thing it's unity not uniformity we're not all meant to be the same or act the same or look the same but we're all meant to be together as one," the talented percussionist said, "The whole idea of As Family We Go is we is we're a team we're a family we're a body but we're not just hanging out together in a cozy little club but as Patrick said we're on a mission and we're going to change the world."

Gareth announced that the theme of 'As Family We Go' is growing into a network of other communities and people doing a similar thing.
