'Insurgent' Movie Release Date, Cast News: Shailene Woodley and Theo James To Return

'Insurgent', the upcoming sequel to the blockbuster hit 'Divergent' is currently being filmed for its upcoming release date which is said to be in March of next year.

Much like 'Divergent' the sequel is also expected to be a great success at the box office. 'Divergent' gained $54 million in its opening week, and about $270 million worldwide. The production team and cast are hoping to replicate the outcome of the first film with this new 'Insurgent' film. Even though the sequel has yet to be released or even completed, rumors are emerging about the third addition to the series.

Fans of the movie will have happy to learn that lead 'Divergent' stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James are set to reprise their roles as Tris and Four, respectively, in the upcoming film.

Many spoilers for the new film can be found all over the Internet because the movies are based off author Veronica Roth's novels. Beyond those spoilers, ones about filming locations, release dates, and casting news cannot be found in those books.

As the movie is still being filmed in Atlanta, details about its release date have been leaked. Apparently, the new film will arrive in theaters on March 20, 2015. After that, 'Allegiant' will be split into two parts, one arriving March 18, 2016, and the other March 24, 2017.

Additional stars are also said to be joining the casts of the new movies.

Stars such as Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer will be joining the 'Insurgent' film as new director Robert Schwentke takes over production. The budding romance between the lead stars will surely be catching the attention of the audience once the film hits theaters.
