A passion project for the filmmakers, WHERE HOPE GROWS released as counter-programing to the major studio's multi-million dollar blockbuster fueled campaigns this weekend. Driven by grassroots initiatives, PR and word of mouth, the underdog strategy paid off for this 2014 Heartland Film Festival Audience Choice Award winner. Audiences turned out for this inspirational story of a washed up baseball player (Kristoffer Polaha) who forms an unlikely friendship with a young man with Down syndrome (David DeSanctis).
