'Indiana Jones 5' Movie Update, News: Harrison Ford To Reprise His Role In The Upcoming Disney Film?

Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has revealed the future of "Indiana Jones 5."

In his interview with Bloomberg, Iger said that the next "Indiana Jones" film is coming and it just needed to give details for the questions "when" and "how." With Disney set to take over the rights of the action adventure film franchise, fans are curious as to how the House of Mouse will revive the film to the big screen.

With Iger confirming the return of "Indiana Jones" to the modern cinematic universe, the Ford is reported to reprise his iconic role in the film. In an interview with Screen Daily, "Jurassic Park" director and "Jurassic World" executive producer Steven Spielberg said that replacing "Indiana Jones" and "Star Wars" actor Harrison Ford was not ever going to happen.

"I don't think that's ever going to happened," Spielberg said.

It could be an opportunity for Ford revive the legacy of the "Indiana Jones" franchise. His last appearance was in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which grossed more than $786 million, making it a box office film. However, some critic reviews suggested that the aforementioned installment was the lowest rank among the "Indiana Jones" films.

With "Indiana Jones 5" on the works, it is assumed that fans would be seeing a better story, screenplay, and effects, just like how Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" and J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" performed at the box office.

Spielberg is set to direct the film while Philip Kaufman and George Lucas are on board to pen the screenplay.

Since "Indiana Jones 5" is still in its early phase of development, exact details on the plot, characters and cast, and release date are yet to be revealed.
