'House of Cards' Season 4 Production News, Rumors: Series to Film Next Installment this Summer in Baltimore?

Netflix has finally given the nod for a fourth season for 'House of Cards,' which is scheduled to premiere in 2016. The announcement regarding the show's renewal came in the form of a Twitter post and it is believed that the upcoming season will be aired right in time to correspond its own election storyline with the U.S. presidential elections.

IB Times reports that Netflix's tweet announcing the renewal of the American political drama television series featured one of Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) crucial lines from 'House of Cards' Season 3 - "I will leave a legacy" - while making a reference to the ongoing campaign for the president's reelection.

'House of Card' Season 3 ended showing Underwood winning a crucial victory in Iowa that put him on course to win the Democratic nomination for the impending presidential elections. Currently, President Underwood is working on his contentious America Works program, which aims to slash costly social programs such as Medicare to support thousands of new jobs for jobless Americans. On the other hand, the politician is seen facing some trouble on the domestic front. In fact, at the butt end of Season 3, viewers saw Underwood's wife Claire (Robin Wright) making a decision to leave her husband.

The previous three seasons of the 'House of Cards' premiered in February, but each year the precise date was pushed back a little. Therefore, a late February or early March release date for 'House of Card' Season 4 would be ideal to drop the episodes right in time for fans to watch the results of the fictional election, while the real national party primary races shift into gear for the 2016 presidential election.

Entertainment Weekly reports that filming for Season 4 will commence at the end of the summer in Baltimore.

Now what remains to be seen is whether Will Frank Underwood will win the reelection and will he be able to repair his relationship with his wife.
