'Hotel Transylvania 2' Release Date, Cast: Mel Brooks to Portray Vlad in Sequel Slated for Fall 2015

Sony Pictures Animation has recently announced that it has cast Mel Brooks to play the role of father Vlad, an "ancient, undead and incredibly grumpy" character, in the upcoming animated movie 'Hotel Transylvania 2'.

Brooks, a horror movie enthusiast and noted actor, writer, director, composer as well as a producer, will be portraying Adam Sandler's character's father. While Sandler will be seen as Dracula, the movie will star a host of big names and starlets, including David Spade, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Steve Buscemi, Keegan-Michael Key, and Fan Dresher, reports Latin Post.

In the sequel to 'Hotel Transylvania', which was released in 2012, fans will be watching Dracula, Jonathan, Mavis, and a number of other monster friends in a sort of comic adventure. Meanwhile, a press release issued by Sony states, "When the old-old-fashioned vampire Vlad arrives at the hotel for an impromptu family get-together, Hotel Transylvania is in for a comic collision of supernatural old-school and modern day cool."

Talking about his role in the movie, Brooks said, "I'm having a wonderful time with the character Vlad. He's been around for eons and he's a pretty crabby guy. Basically, he reminds me of me."

Meanwhile, USA Today reports that the first 'Hotel Transylvania' movie explored the generation gap between Dracula and his daughter Mavis. It also looked at Mavis' urge to go outside her family hotel and experience the external world. It also included a romantic plot involving this vampire girl and her human friend named Jonathan.

Apart from having top actors, 'Hotel Transylvania 2' will also included heavyweight personalities behind the scene. The movie, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and produced by Michelle Murdocca, is slated for release in the Fall of 2015.
