Jim Sonefeld, drummer for Hootie & the Blowfish, is scheduled to release his third Christian project, Love, August 14th.

The five song EP features new tunes that were written by Sonefeld and was produced by Matt Houston, Sanchez Fair, Les Hall, Stan Lynch and Billy Chapin. Love is the follow-up project to the previous releases in the trilogy series, Found in 2012 and In in 2014, which showcases a more confident artist, who has become more comfortable with his music ministry and has developed his own unique sound. The new record spotlights messages of hope, redemption and grace that Sonefeld discovered after overcoming his substance abuses. Love will be available at all online music outlets, with physical copies available at Sonefeld's solo performances and at Hootie & the Blowfish live dates.

"To continue making Christian music is very important to me," says Sonefeld, "and releasing my latest project, Love, is an extension of the gratitude I have for God. He took this sinful, addicted, unsure songwriter and lifted me from a pit of desperation to the high place of serving Him. I'm confident God will keep inspiring my songwriting and put me on a path where he can best use me. I don't know where that path will lead, but I fully trust in Him and will faithfully follow."

Sonefeld views Love as a celebration of faith with an urgent reminder of making the relationship with God a daily surrender. The EP launches with the radio friendly mid-tempo song, "Not Waiting on Sunday," that resonates with Sonefeld's surrender message, while "The Cross Before the Crown" features a violin opening, with lyrics that remind us to submit to the Cross and give up our false idols. "Are We Prepared To Fly?" (following Christ's direction) segues into the beautiful ballad, "The Jesus I Know" (living a loving life), and concludes with "God is Here." This song reminds Christians that God is all around us and part of our daily lives, not just inside of a church building.

Sonefeld puts his faith into action with two ministries. The first is being actively involved with Celebrate Recovery® Ministry, helping others in recovery by sharing his testimony and music to churches that offer the Celebrate Recovery® program. The second is with the Hootie & the Blowfish event, Homegrown Roundup, which provides school supplies, backpacks, shoes, uniforms, dental and eye exams, and haircuts to children in need. The 9th annual Homegrown Roundup will take place in Charleston, SC on August 8th from Noon - 4:00 pm EDT at Burke High School Auditorium.

About Jim Sonefeld
Jim Sonefeld was raised in a Catholic family in Naperville, IL. After high school, he attended the University of South Carolina with hopes of playing professional soccer one day, but upon earning his degree in 1989 opted to join a group of like-minded musicians in a band called Hootie & the Blowfish. After touring clubs for five years, the band released their major label debut, Cracked Rear View, which went on to sell 16 million copies and earned the group two Grammy Awards. Along the way, Sonefeld's use of drugs and alcohol took the driver's seat in his life. By the end of 2004, with the bottom falling out, he sought out a 12-Step program and began a spiritual housecleaning that included a renewed relationship with God. Encouraged by his wife Laura, he began writing contemporary Christian music. The result has been three independent rock-based projects in four years; Found (2012), In (2014), and Love (2015). Sonefeld mainly performs his new music for charities, churches, or Celebrate Recovery®, a Christ-centered addiction recovery program. Hootie & the Blowfish perform 4-5 times a year to support the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, benefiting South Carolina charities. Sonefeld lives in Columbia, SC with his wife and blended family of five children.
