Heaven is 'A Lot Like Earth...The Perfect Earth,' Testifies Colton Burpo of 'Heaven is For Real' Movie (BURPO FAMILY INTERVIEW)

The Breathecast studio had a face to face with the Burpo family (Todd, Colton, and Sonja) about Colton's experience of heaven when he had a near death experience as a young boy.

Colton was just four-years-old when a burst appendix landed him in a serious condition in the hospital. This near death experience took Colton on a journey that is now being talked about around the world. After his amazing recovery, the young Colton bit by bit revealed a testimony of visiting heaven and many of the details he provided about his experiences left his parents stunned as there was no way he could have known many of the facts he was revealing.

Among the various testimonies he has given, he told his parents that he sat on Jesus' lap in heaven. He also gave a detailed description of where his mother and father were in the hospital and what they were doing while he was in surgery in critical condition.

Colton also recalled meeting his great-grandfather in heaven, and stunned his parents after telling his mother about meeting his sister, who his mom miscarried two years before he was even born and had never told him about. He testifies that he met his sister in heaven, and that she had no name as his parents had not ever given her a name.

After many months of his son slowly revealing snippets of his testimony as a young toddler, Todd began telling of his son's experiences of heaven from the pulpit of the Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, Nebraska where he serves as pastor. The testimony amazed congregants, and the story of his visit to heaven quickly spread. Many of those who were greatly encouraged by the testimony urged the Burpos to write a book to allow more people to hear of the experience, and soon after the family signed a book deal.

Hollywood then picked up the account based on the NY Times bestselling book by Burpo (with Lynn Vincent), and created a film that tells the family's story about heaven.

The movie was directed by Randall Wallace and written by Wallace and Christopher Parker. It was produced by Joe Roth and T.D. Jakes, and stars, Greg Kinnear, Kelly Reilly, and Connor Corum.

The TriStar/Sony Pictures film, opens nationwide Wed. Apr. 16.
