'Hawaii Five-0', the police procedural drama series will return for its Season 5 on Friday, Sept. 26, on CBS. The show is based on the original series, 'Hawaii Five-O', that aired from 1968-1980.

Meanwhile, Michelle Borth who left 'Hawaii Five-0' at the end of Season 4 will not be returning for Season 5. Borth portrayed the character of Catherine Rollins right from the day the series was aired for the first time, up until the Season 4 finale.

In fact, Borth's character was written out of the season finale, as her character was sent off to Afghanistan to rescue a family member who had once saved her life.

As usual, fans were disappointed to learn that Borth was leaving the show and requested that her character be written back into script for Season 5. Nevertheless, this is not going to happen, no matter how badly the fans want her back. As Borth's character was the love interest of leading man Steven J. McGarrett, her leaving the show would mean an end to this relationship.

Evidently, fans wanted to see how that relationship would have turned out.

Earlier, Borth told E! News that she was not made a cast regular until Season 3 adding that she didn't want her character to "be disruptive". "I want it to be a gradual easing in for sure," she said.

Until CBS announced that 'Hawaii Five-0' would return for a fifth season, this was one of the shows that was on the fence in regards to a renewal. In fact, currently CBS has a solid history of dramas, with 'The Good Wife', 'Person of Interest' and 'NCIS', so some fan thought the Hawaii oriented series would be cut from the lineup.

However, on the other hand, many feel that show's history has a lot to do with its return for a fifth season. As the show generated a strong following with the late '60s series, some feel that this new version has done the same.

Although fans have been demanding that Borth be brought back to the show, the actress has decided otherwise.

One fan, tweeted, "Bring Back Cath because she IS the female version McG," adding, "Nope, never too much. And Cath's a great mate for him."

Another posted, "Please please please with malasadas on top tell me we'll see Cath in season 5!! #H50 #MissingHerAlready!"

However, it is still unknown what prompted Borth to make the decision to leave the series, but considering her immense popularity with fans it's likely that she will continue to appear in other projects.
