Season 3 of 'Hannibal' will be jumping around the timeline when the series returns. The first episode in Season 3 will take place a year after the Season 2 finale. Also, fans of the show can expect to see a few flashbacks in some of the episodes of the upcoming installment.

In Episode 1, viewers will see a couple of flashbacks from Bedilia and Hannibal's life. Writer-producer Bryan Fuller said at Comic Con 2014, "The first episode is all about the characters. It's like a pilot of a new show."

Going along with the flashbacks, Eddie Izzard as Abel Gideon is also expected to return to the series. Bryan Fuller reveals, "We are writing a role for Eddie to return as a flashback."

Besides that, Raul Esparza is expected to be in Season 3 as well, he hinted about his appearance as Dr. Chilton, "In my next season I expect to have an eye patch, hump, and parrot."

Fuller also mentioned that show is switching its format around, "You only see the FBI in one episode in the first seven." He mentioned that the show will now focus on the pursuit of Hannibal.

New characters will also arise, most of them stemming from the book. In Episode 2, Commander Apache, the Italian detective in the film 'Hannibal' is introduced. We will see Hannibal's aunt, Lady Murasaki, in Episode 3. Cordell is introduced in Episode 4 and Francis Dollarhyde in Episode 8.

Bryan Fuller left fans with one things to keep in mind throughout the next season, "Someone's in Hannibal's house is dying."
