GTA 6 Release Date, Rumors: Rockstar Issues Statement, GTA V Next-Gen Port

Rumors have emerged concerning an upcoming sixth installment to Rockstar game's critically-acclaimed open-world franchise, Grand Theft Auto.

In the past few weeks, following the announcement of GTA V on the next-gen consoles and PC, "GTA VI" was rumored to be released sometime in 2017. Specifically, the release date is set to be around June in 2017, and sources say that Rockstar announced the title to take place in Vice City and would aptly be called "Return to Vice City."

During last month's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) Rockstar announced GTA V to come out for next-gen consoles, PS4, Xbox One, and the PC. It would seem that the rumors surfaced from a YouTube video saying that "GTA VI" will be announced in E3. It is highly unlikely that Rockstar Games will be releasing a sequel soon, seeing that they are busy with GTA V platform migration.

The company has not been completely silent about the probability of a new game, Leslie Benzies, President of GTA V developer Rockstar North, spoke about a full length addition set to appear the coming years, "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain't no rest between finishing V and then online. Plus we have some other things - stuff, DLC, I don't know how to describe it exactly - that we'd like to do, and we'll pick the right ones," Benzies said in a statement.

Porting the current game to the next-gen consoles is taking up most of the company's time, as well as updating the online service of GTA V, "GTA Online.' Seeing "GTA VI" hit the franchise will probably turn up within in the next few years.
