'Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Finale News: Sarah Drew Talks Jackson & April's Split

In the eleventh season of Grey's Anatomy, there were a lot of changes in the relationships on the show.

However, what may have been almost as depressing as the death of Derek Shepherd for fans, was what happened between Jackson, played by Jesse Williams, and April, played by Sarah Drew, during the season finale.

April expressed interest to Jackson in going on another call of duty. While Jackson supports her decision, he does give her an ultimatum, telling her that if she leaves, he will not be waiting for her on her return.

This seems to be the end of the couple's relationship. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sarah Drew voiced her opinion about the fate of the on screen romance.

"We haven't actually broken up. We're left on the precipice," says Sarah, "He's given me an ultimatum that gives us room to figure out what's going to happen next season. I think this is the first of many conversations. I don't see it as a total breakup, I see it as they're definitely in a really, really rough situation. I don't think that it's the nail on the coffin for them. He says if you go, we're done, but April still has to make a choice, so that's where -- I guess -- we'll pick up next season, but [Shonda Rhimes] could make a different choice."

She also says that after losing Derek, the next season will have a brand new energy for all of the characters.
