Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Update on Galaxy Note Edge News: Google OS Leaked for Samsung Device

It was reported by the International Business Times that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy Note Edge had been delayed due to gear support. However this will not be an issue for Samsung's Gear VR.

This is because it will not affect this particular handset due to its curved display, however, this smartphone will not support the new virtual reality headset that had been causing the delay in the first place.

What does this mean for owners of the super sized Samsung Galaxy Note Edge? Well, according to Phone Arena, it means that the beta version of Touch-Wiz-enabled Android 5.0.1 Lollipop with the build number XXU1BOA2 has been spotted for the Galaxy Note Edge.

Created on January 29th of this year, it will be available for two variants of the Galaxy Note Edge, Model SM-N915FY and SM-N915F.

Sam Mobile stated the SM-N915FY Galaxy Note Edge was released in European regions like the UK, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy and more, while the SM-N915F was released in Russia and Kazakhstan.

This is not the best news for Americans, because unfortunately if you bought your phone in the United States, you won't be able to get this update.

It should also be noted that flashing the new build on the Galaxy Note Edge along with Odin's assistance will not void your warranty since this update has been officially uploaded by Samsung.

So far the only issue that has been associated with this beta leak is that users are required to set their devices to the lowest CPU frequency of the Snapdragon 805 processor to 300 MHz after flashing the ROM.

There may still be several bugs and issues as it is only a pre-release so download at your own digression.

As of right now, Samsung has not set an official date as to when the final build will be available to the public.
