FRIENDS Reunion 2016 News: Reunion Episode Set To Premiere On Feb. 21, One-Time Episode To Honor Director James Burrows

The reunion episode of FRIENDS will be premiered on Feb.21. According to one of the cast members of the show, the episode will be very special for everyone.

The FRIENDS cast reunited for a one-time episode to honor director James Burrows. Burrows recently helmed his 1,000th TV episode, 15 of those which were from FRIENDS according to TV Line.

David Schwimmer told Entertainment Tonight that it was "lovely" to be in the same room as the people that he have worked with for 10 years and also to honor Burrows who he said they "really love." The group wasn't complete though. Matthew Perry had to be in London to rehearse for a play that he is part of. But nonetheless the event was still wonderful according to the 49-year-old actor.

Schwimmer also said that one of the reasons why he joined the FRIENDS cast in the very beginning was because he loved the classic sitcom, "Taxi" which was also directed by Burrows.

The 75-year-old Burrows also directed "Cheers," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "The Bob Newhart Show," and "Laverne & Shirley." He was the one who helmed the pilot episode of FRIENDS. He directed most of the episodes of the show's first season, including the the one where Ross and Rachel took a break.

Throughout his whole career in directing, Burrows has been nominated for Directors Guild of America awards 15 times. He has been nominated at the Emmy Awards each year between 1980 and 2005 except in 1997. The director has won 10 Emmy Awards and as well as four Directors Guild of America Awards.
