Former singer of Flyleaf, Lacey Sturm, is sharing her testimony in her upcoming book 'The Reason - How I discovered a Life Worth Living', where she found Jesus on the brink of suicide.

The book will be out in October, and will document a time in her life when she was an atheist, and ready to end her life. She took her dark times and played them in song with her band, which helped her fans relate to her. Sturm's conversations with fans who shared stories of how her music helped them, encouraged her to write the book.

"'The Reason' leads readers down the rocky path that led Sturm to the founding of the popular band Flyleaf. Sturm deftly weaves her story in vivid detail while offering poignant insights that speak to the 'Why?' behind her struggles. Sturm wrote "The Reason" in hopes that it would speak to those dealing with similar struggles," the press release reads.

What Sturm does not talk about in the video is the cause of her pain and dark times. At ten years old she lost her cousin to abuse, which caused her to doubt God was real. The singer gave up on God and took to drugs and anger to deal with pain. However, it was an encounter with her grandfather that turned her life around to Jesus; he brought her to church.

"To the one like my teenage self, who is a breath away from finding the beauty of a life worth living. To whoever needs to know that God loves you and has a plan for your life, and though you will die one day, he doesn't want you to die tonight," she writes in the book's dedication.

Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch knows how it feels to hit rock bottom. He wrote the book's forward, "A book with this much substance will, without a doubt, live on to change lives for generations."

Sturm is currently working on a solo mainstream album.
