Florida Georgia Line 'Cruse' At No. 1, Ties Record for 21-Weeks On Top of Billboard's Hot Country Charts , Can It Continue? (VIDEO) 

 

Florida Georgia Line, the pop/country duo is having a break out year to say the least. 

Not only have they hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hot County Songs Chart but they have stayed there for the past 21 weeks. This ties the all time record to topping the chats in it's 69 years of existence. 

The Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart started keeping count on Jan 8, 1944. 

The competition that Florida Georgia Line has to beat is nothing current, even in the last 40 years. Here are the 21 week holders that the duo is hoping to pass next week with the first ever 22 weeks at No. 1

Eddy Arnold, with the post-World War II balad "I'll Hold You in My Heart (Till I Can Hold You in My Arms) which stayed No. 1 for 21 weeks between 1947-48. Arnold was 29-years-old at the time. 

Hank Snow, the Canadian singer also peaked at No. 1 for 21 weeks in 1950 with the song, "I'm Moving On". 

"In the Jailhouse Now" Webb Pierce has a 21 week No. 1 run in 1955 as well. 

"Cruise" has reached as high as No. 7 on the Mainstream Top 40 and has sold over 5.1 million downloads becoming the third best selling digital country track since Soundscan began tracking. "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum tops the digital download sale with 6.2 million and Taylor Swift's "Love Story" is second with 5.6 million sales. 

"Cruise" has been at the top of the Hot Country Charts since April 20th. 

Florida Georgia Line has two more singles on the charts currently as well with "Get Your Shine On" and "Round Here" .
