'Final Fantasy VII' Remake Release Date News: New Game More Action-Focused? All Characters Come Back?

When the "Final Fantasy VII" remake was announced, there was naturally some apprehensions on some die-hard fans about what it may mean for the franchise, particularly with the news that it's veering towards a more action-oriented format.

But "Final Fantasy VII" remake producer Yoshinori Kitase said that they have not decided to go into full-action mode.

"In terms of the Final Fantasy action battles people have experienced themselves, that is most familiar to them these days," he said, as quoted in a news interview from Game Informer.

"In terms of the image of the battle system, that's where we're getting the feel from. It won't be as action-focused as Dissidia, of course, but the the visuals and how the gameplay feels in essence will be drawn from that Dissidia-esque style," he explained.

He also narrated that they have been working on the "Final Fantasy XIII" series for the past decade, after after that finished-and with Hajime Tabata's team working on "Final Fantasy XV"-they now found themselves with a time to focus on the "Final Fantasy VII" remake.

But will all the characters from the original be accessed in the "Final Fantasy VII" remake?

Kitase explained that with the pre-existing storyline, there's added pressure to add all the characters but they know that it just won't be feasible.

"Maybe some of the characters who weren't as famous won't appear or be mentioned. But in terms of the characters and instances that remain in the memories of our fans, we do want to try our best to integrate that in some fashion in the world," he explained.
