Fast and Furious 7 Release Date Moved Up One Week: April 10 Back to April 3, 2015

Universal Pictures has moved up the release of the upcoming Fast and Furious 7 from April 10 to April 3, 2015. The film has experienced several obstacles along the way, with the death of Paul Walker in a car crash, and several other production problems, but with the recent news, it looks like the production is getting ahead in their already delayed schedule.

The seventh film of the franchise started its principal photography in September 2013 and originally scheduled a release for this summer 2014. However, the recent Walker tragic car crash in November 30 delayed the filming to the a release in April 10. Now, the studio had announced an earlier release date, one week earlier to be exact.

According to reports, the studio is planning a worldwide day-and-date opening for the movie and decided that opening a week earlier allowed it to book more international play-dates. April may be the lucky month for the film since two other films in the series did well on their April opening week. The fourth film was reported to have brought $70 million on its opening alone.

Some reports speculate that the move was probably for the best since there will be less competition. So far Avengers: Age of Ultron will premiere in May which is the foreseeable biggest competitor. The film will have a whole month to enjoy the spotlight and of course, gather all the profit they can get.

Fast and Furious 7 will also be competing with a Disney documentary titled Monkey Kingdom and Sony's Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. It will be an exciting film, but there is already speculation that the seventh movie, featuring Walker and company including Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham will be the last in the franchise.

A possible reason may be that the franchise suffered a huge setback because of Walker death. The production stopped for a while, but then decided to finish the film. Walker's brothers even had to step in to shoot scenes for Brian O'Conner's character. There are still no official announcements that say it will be the last film of the franchise, but some say it will be the biggest and best one yet.
