‘Family Guy’ Season 13 Release Date, Spoilers: New Episode Features Crossover With ‘The Simpsons’

Earlier this year, the long-running Fox comedy series 'Family Guy', was confirmed to come back for its 13th season. The show promises to start this season off with a bang, since its premiere episode will feature a crossover with the legendary and long-time running show, 'The Simpsons'.

The premiere episode for Season 13 of the show will run for an hour, and is entitled 'The Simpsons Guy'. A trailer for the crossover episode was shown at the San Diego Comic-Con on July.

The teaser trailer showed the Griffins in front of a sign "Welcome to Springfield." The family eventually met the Simpsons, and got along well with them. Stewie and Bart were shown making prank calls and skateboarding through a park. Peter Griffin and Homer Simpson were bonding at first, but eventually had an intense fight over their favorite beers, Pawtucket Patriot Ale and Duff Beer.

The premiere episode was written by 'Family Guy' producers, but 'The Simpsons' writers were also asked to give their creative input.

"We sent them the script, and I think between Jim [Brooks], Matt [Groening], and Al [Jean], they had one or two lines in the hour-long episode they asked us to tweak. They gave us free rein," Rich Appel, producer for 'Family Guy', said at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Aside from the crossover episode with 'The Simpsons', another reason to look forward to the 13th season of 'Family Guy' is its list of high-profile artists that the show will have as guests. The artists that will make an appearance on the show for the upcoming season include Jeff Garlin, Liam Neeson, Joe Buck, Allison Janney, Julie Bowen and Lea Thompson.

'Family Guy' Season 13 will premiere on Sept. 28 on Fox. The season premiere episode of 'The Simpsons', in which a major character will be killed off, will also premiere on the same night.
