'Exodus Gods and Kings' actor Christian Bale recently revealed his thoughts concerning his role as a 'Schizophrenic' biblical protagonist Moses in the upcoming blockbuster film.

The 40-year-old actor is best known for playing popular characters with severe psychological issues such as serial killer Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho' and Batman in the critically acclaimed 'The Dark Knight' film trilogy.

"I think the man was likely schizophrenic and was one of the most barbaric individuals that I ever read about in my life," said Bale to reporters, according to a Christian Today report. "He's a very troubled and tumultuous man who fought greatly against God, against his calling."

The 'Empire of the Sun' star previously revealed in another interview that his biblical knowledge is "below Sunday School."

"The big one for me, other than realizing I had no idea about Moses at all, was just how complex a character he was," said Bale during a Q&A session at 20th Century Fox after the screening of the trailer.

"He was a very troubled, tumultuous man and mercurial. But the biggest surprise was the nature of God. He was equally very mercurial."

The 'American Hustle' star Christian Bale previously talked about his role as Moses and the pressure of the playing biblical hero after Charlton Heston's memorable performance in the 1956 classic film 'The Ten Commandments'.

"Charlton Heston does Charlton Heston better than anyone," said Bale to Entertainment Weekly a few months ago, "But the biblical account of Moses is extraordinary, and there was lots of room for us to go to places that (Heston's movie) The Ten Commandments never dreamed of going."

According to a Hollow Verse report, Bale previously publicized in another interview that despite his first name, he reportedly grew up in a non-Christian home.

"I always pictured Jesus as Neil Diamond when I was younger. My upbringing was not a religious one, but an inquisitive one. My father was best friends with the bishop and fascinated by religion. I would come back from church, and my dad would put on Neil Diamond. So, I would always picture Neil Diamond with a big white beard, standing in a tunic and preaching to masses of people... I do go to church on occasion, but I don't adhere to any particular religion. His [Jesus'] basic message of encompassing all people was a great one," said Bale.

'Exodus: Gods and Kings' is slated to arrive in movie theaters on December 12, 2014.
