Eric Garner Mom Gwen Carr Says 'Thank You Jesus' After NYPD's Deadly Chokehold Ruled a Homicide (VIDEO)

Eric Garner's Mother Gwen Carr recently broke her silence after NYPD's deadly chokehold was ruled a homicide.

"Thank you, Jesus!," said Carr, according to the ABC News website.

In the report, Carr revealed that she still thinks about her late son's final words "I can't breathe!" when she goes to sleep.

"Let him go! Give him air!," screamed Carr when she awakened from sleep several times when she remembered what happened to her son on July 17 in Staten Island.

On that day, Officer Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer used a chokehold on Garner, which resulted in the death of 43-year-old man.

Garner's widow Esaw Garner has this to say regarding the incident that claimed the life of her husband, "I just want them to do the right thing and give me justice for my husband," said Garner.

Civil Rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton believes the case racially motivated since the victim (Garner) was a black man, while Pantaleo is a white man.

"We cannot go back 25 years," said Sharpton, "Twenty-five years later in the name of Eric Garner we are going forward."

Sharpton revealed that he will lead a march in honor of Garner on Aug. 23, when he and other people who are outraged by Garner's death will cross the Verrazano Bridge (located between Brooklyn and Staten Island) in order to voice their dissent.

In addition, Sharpton revealed he picked that date in remembrance of the upcoming 25th anniversary of the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old African-American Yusuf Hawkins, who was killed by a Caucasian mob in Brooklyn in 1989.

The medical examiner issued the final verdict regarding Garner's death, "[Garner was killed due to] the compression of his chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police," according to the official report by the medical examiner.
