Drew Barrymore’s Half-Sister Jessica Blyth Barrymore Discovered Dead in San Diego (VIDEO)

Drew Barrymore's half-sister Jessica Blyth Barrymore has been found dead in her car in San Diego.

"Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss," said Drew Barrymore via her spokesperson to TMZ.

Jessica and the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial actress both had the same father: the late actor John Drew Barrymore (1932-2004), but they did not have a close relationship.

Jessica was discovered with several amounts of white pills all over the passenger seat of her car (along with SoBe energy drink sandwiched between her legs) at approximately 6am in the morning on Tuesday.

"You need help, you need help," said Marta Lopez to 10News, recalling what she told the victim before she realized Barrymore was not breathing.

Another eyewitness said he saw Jessica's car in the driveway when he went out.

"Her car was parked right here last night around midnight," said Oscar Sandoval, who noticed the car was still there. "I thought she was sleeping or waiting for someone."

Her former Petco store co-worker Dawn Vaughn reflected on the passing of Barrymore, who appeared to have died of drug overdose, but that fact have not been confirmed yet.

"Jessica always had a positive attitude at work, great with customers, us and animals," said Vaughn. "Awesome sense of humor and always had a smile for you, very generous in heart and spirit. This world lost a wonderful human being for sure."

This tragic story is very reminiscent of actress Julia Roberts' estranged sister Nancy Motes who wrote a suicide note before her body was discovered on February 9 by her fiancé John Dilbeck.

The 37-year-old Motes committed suicide by taking multiple drugs before she drowned in a bathtub at a home where she was housesitting.

"My mother and so-called 'siblings' get nothing except the memory that they are the ones that drove me into the deepest depression I've ever been in," wrote Motes in her handwritten suicide note acquired by MailOnline. "I've suffered thru this disease all my life, however it has never been this bad. I burst into tears every morning (because) I woke up."

Jessica Blyth Barrymore would have turned 48-years-old on July 31.

"Life doesn't always introduce you to the people you WANT to meet. Sometimes,#life puts you in touch with the people you NEED to meet to Help You, to Hurt You, to Guide You, to Leave You, to Love You, and to gradually Strengthen You into the Person You Were Meant to Become," posted the late Barrymore sister on Facebook recently, according to a USA TODAY report.
