On Martin Luther King Day many took to social media to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Reach Records rapper Lecrae did likewise. In honor of the civil rights leader Lecrae tells fans that he too will exercise his voice.

Lecrae posted on Facebook that although King's birthday had already passed, "his legacy lives on." The successful emcee recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon and performed his song "Welcome to America" and encouraged people to see the film 'Selma.'

On Monday Lecrae posted, "Reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy challenges me to use my voice for the voiceless and live a life worthy of influencing the next generation." He then linked his Fallon performance.

His dynamic performance showed that the Christian rapper is modeling after King. Clips of Dr. Martin Luther King was inserted in certain parts of the song as Lecrae rapped over the backdrop of an American flag along with a drummer and his DJ. At the end of his performance he encouraged the audience watching to go see 'Selma.'

"I'm thankful for 'Selma's' production," he posted on social media, "MLK's visionary leadership altered the course of history. As we prepare to honor Dr. King on Monday, I hope you'll take a loved one to go see this film in celebration of his legacy."

Lecrae's fans urged him on Facebook to continue to be a voice. "Open your mouths for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouths, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy," one posted quoting from Proverbs 31: 8-9. "I'm so thankful that God chose you to be a voice in this world!" another declared.
