‘Doctor Who’ Season 10 News, Update: Peter Capaldi Reveals 'New Character To Join Series Is Pearl Mackie'

In line with the upcoming "Doctor Who" season 10, Peter Capaldi has revealed another actress whose character is set to join his character in the hit television series - "West End" actress Pearl Mackie.

According to Den of Geek, Mackie is set to join "Doctor Who" season 10 and she is going to be the new companion of Capaldi's character, replacing Jenna Coleman.

On Apr. 24, Mackie confirmed on her official Twitter account that she was joining "Doctor Who" season 10. She wrote on Twitter that she was so excited to be the next companion on the show, adding that she could not wait to join the family.

"Thank you for all the lovely messages," Mackie included in her tweet, indicating that fans are welcoming her as the newest member of the adventure television series.

Mackie expressed further her thrill as one of the cast members in the show. In a statement (via BBC), she said that she was incredibly excited to be joining the "Doctor Who" family, adding that it was an extraordinary British institution. The "West End" actress also mentioned that she could not be prouder to call the Tardis her home.

On Apr. 23, Capaldi made the announcement of Mackie's inclusion to the show during the halftime of the FA Cup semi-final match between Everton and Manchester Unites on BBC One. The actor previously told Omelete that his character would have a new companion, along any minute, which he was very excited about. It was because he knew who that was and they had been doing a bit of work together already and it was very exciting, adding that it was a very different sort of take on it.

According to Al, "Doctor Who" is set to return with a Christmas Special and start the new season 10 in 2017.
