David and Goliath Movie 2015: Jerry Sokolosky to Play Biblical Giant Goliath (VIDEO)

In the upcoming David and Goliath movie, new actor Jerry Sokolosky has been chosen to play the role of the evil Philistine giant Goliath in the film based on the greatest underdog in biblical history.

"Jerry was a tremendous blessing," said Christian film director Tim Chey, according to a Christian Newswire report, "We didn't want to create a CGI imitation like 'The Incredible Hulk' and so our casting directors set out to find the biggest guy and he's very big."

The former Canadian high school basketball player is known for being "Tallest Man in Canada" after Guinness Book of Records gave him that moniker many years ago.

Previously, Sokolosky made himself eligible for the 2004 NBA draft after attending workouts with several NBA franchises.

However, he was not selected by any teams to play in the National Basketball Association that year.

According to Christian Newswire, the tall actor (who previously appeared as an arm wrestling biker in a Mr. Clean commercial) is listed at 7 foot and 8 inches, but other websites have various estimates regarding Sokolosky's height ranging from 7'4- 7'5.

"Goliath stood at nine feet," said Chey, "So Jerry was about a foot and four inches shorter than the real thing. He adds an incredible, realistic dimension."

U.S. Casting Associate Michelle Albright also mentioned in the interview that the casting crew literally traveled the world to find the man who could play the giant that will oppose David (played by young actor Miles Sloman) and the Israeli army in the upcoming biblical film.

"They flew Jerry to North Africa just to meet with the director and producers," said Albright. "While there, they decided to cast Jerry and the rest is history."
